Hey, bookish friends!
As you might've noticed, this format is a little different from my usual posts. That's because I usually write in my native language - Bulgarian. However, today's theme is the O.W.L.s Magical Readathon and since it's international, I decided to do something new.
Disclaimer: I'm sorry for all the mistakes you're about to witness, but I wanted my TBR to be in a language more people can understand.
Let's start with a little story: Two years ago, I first found out about this amazingness. I was so excited that I never got around to doing it. So this year I'm fully committed and hopefully, this will take me out of the reading slump I'm in.
Now, if you've never heard of this event, it's a month-long readathon hosted by a lovely Youtuber, Book Roast, for Harry Potter fans like me. You get to do the exams by reading a book for each one of them. You can choose a career path and even add extra seminars. I'm participating because I adore the idea so much.
I know this was quite the explanation, so here's Book Roast's announcement video for more info.
I think it's about time I start with my TBR and stuff.
Which career did I choose?
Auror. For all of you, who just rolled their eyes, I know. It's predictable, but in my defence, I want to do my dream career first.
Which exams do I have to pass?
Charms - Lumos Maxima: white cover
For this, I'll read either 'Turtles All the Way Down' or 'The Hate U Give'. I haven't decided yet.
Defence Against the Dark Arts - Grindylows: a book set at the sea/coast
'Salt to the Sea'. I'm not even sure if this counts. The only thing I know about the book is that there's 'sea' in the title.
Herbology - Mimbulus mimbletonia: title starts with an M
One of these four books will be the winner - 'Me Before You', 'Matilda', 'Middlegame' and 'The Master and Margarita'.
Potions - Shrinking Solution: book under 150 pages
Transfiguration - Animagus lecture: book/series that includes shapeshifting
It's time for the big reveal. I haven't read 'A Court of Thorns and Roses', but it's perfect for this challenge.
Courses, seminars and training
I'm a pretty ambitious person, so I chose three more things to put on my Hogwarts CV.
Animagus training - I want to be able to turn into an animal at any time. That would be a bonus when I'm an Auror. For this, I need to add Arithmancy - Magical qualities of number 2: balance/opposites - read something outside your favourite genre.
Two options - 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'A Pinch of Magic'.
Merpeople linguistics - I'm such a sucker for knowledge. Fortunately, I don't need an extra exam for this.
Legal Defence of Fantastic Beasts Seminar - How exciting and helpful would that be? I need to pass two more exams, though.
Care of Magical Creatures - Hippogriffs: a creature with a beak on the cover
It's going to be either 'To Kill a Mockingbird' or 'The School for Good and Evil'.
History of Magic - Witch hunts: a book featuring witches/wizards
My obvious choice is 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'.
What are my expectations?
I hope I'm going to ease this challenge.
Well, I enjoyed writing in English more than I thought I would. You can expect more content like this in the future. For now, be safe, wash your hands and practise social distancing. I know you hear it everywhere, but still. Hope to see you soon!
And don't forget that I love you guys!💖
